Concert

The Apple Valley Flute Choir will present its spring concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Stephens City Mennonite Church. Admission is free.

Wellness series

Strasburg will host its third free Wellness Series program on Sunday at the Strasburg Square. The program this week will be on senior fitness at 10 a.m. and Alzheimer’s education at 11 a.m.

Concert

Alex’s Warriors Relay for Life will host its annual fundraising concert from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the Fort Valley Fire Hall. The concert will feature the Browntown Boys, Matt Spinks and the Gospel Brothers. There will also be an auction and food. Information: Robert Coverstone at 540-933-6271.

Sorority news

Debbie Froemel was named “Woman of the Year” by the Xi Epsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Donna Crabill was crowned Valentine Sweetheart at the annual dinner in February. Other socials included a tea, Christmas party, Founder’s Day dinner, vineyard picnic, movie theater night, mystery dinner, Halloween party, St. Patrick’s Day dinner and Mothers’ Day brunch.

The sorority donated time and money to the following programs: After Prom, Tree of Love, Empty Stocking Fund, VECCA, ALS Foundation, Fisher House of Belvoir, Heifer International, Blue Ridge Hospice and Luke’s Backpack.

Officers for 2019-2020 are Shirley Moyers, president; JoAnn Racey, vice president; Donna Crabill, treasurer; Theresa Adams, secretary; Mary Pence, corresponding secretary; Mona Casteel, Extension officer.

The following members received degrees this year: Ritual of Jewels, Theresa Adams; Exemplar, Peggy Sollenberger and Debbie Froemel; Torchbearer, JoAnn Racey and Shirley Moyers.
