Dinner, bingo

Strasburg Christian Church will host a baked potato bar starting at 5 p.m. and quarter bingo from 6-9 p.m. Saturday. Money raised will pay for new church pew cushions. A donation to the Humane Society of Shenandoah County will also be collected for an additional door prize ticket.

Ham radio

Precinct meeting

District 5 Board of Supervisor Dennis Morris will host a precinct meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Toms Brook Volunteer Fire Dept. The guest speaker will be Shenandoah County Administrator Evan Vass, who will provide information on the county food and beverage tax referendum meals tax. Information: 540-436-9149.

Spay Today

Spay Today, a nonprofit reduced-priced spay and neuter program, offers shots and tests at lower rates in addition to reduced-priced spay and neuter programs with many veterinarians over a wide area. Information: 304-728-8330 or www.baacs.org.

College news

Nancy Lay, of Front Royal, participated in the annual day of service on Aug. 24 at Cedar Crest College. As a freshman, she helped clean the grounds at Trexler Park and teamed up with members of Special Olympics.
