The Clarke County Library in Berryville will hold the following children's activities Thursday:
• Preschool storytime: 10:30 a.m., for ages to 5.
• Lego Club: 3:45 p.m., for ages to 11 and families.

The Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation will present a program on Gen. Philip Sheridan's Union army at 7 p.m. Thursday at the meeting of the New Market Historical Society in the town's council chambers.
The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will hold a public information meeting regarding a proposed public river access site on the North Fork of the Shenandoah River on Headley Road north of Woodstock.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Shenandoah County Government Complex in Woodstock.
DGIF maintains or assists with maintenance at six public river access sites on the North Fork: Meem’s Bottom, Chapman’s Landing, Deer Rapids, Strasburg Town Park, Catlett’s and Riverton.
Benefit pig/goat roast
The Shenandoah University's Mens Basketball team is raising funds to play in a season NCAA D3 tournament and perform a day of community service in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The Pig & Goat Roast, a traditional end of the harvest celebration often prepared by migrant orchard workers to signal the end of the apple season, will be held from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 5 at Escutcheon Brewing Co., 142 W. Commercial St., Winchester. The meal consists of roasted goat and pig with Caribbean-style rice and peas and local baked apples.
Special musical guests include All Stars from Shenandoah University's Conservatory of Music and a set of "Buzz Grass" music from The Cow Paddies.
