Closings

Track facilities at Central and Strasburg high schools will be closed soon for maintenance.

Shenandoah County Schools Superintendent Mark Johnston stated in a news release that the track facilities at both high schools will be closed starting Monday.

The track at Central High School is to be replaced and will be closed through mid-to-late July.

Strasburg High School’s track is to be resurfaced and is expected to be closed for about two weeks.

Yard sale

Love and Faithfullness Church will hold a rummage/yard sale starting at 9 a.m. Saturday at 321 S. Royal Ave., Front Royal. Proceeds benefit the Coming Together Camp meeting to be held later this year. Information: David Clanagan at 540-247-1739.

Handley Library in Winchester will hold the following children's activities:

• Monday: 4 p.m., MakerSpace for ages 6-11.

• Tuesday: 1 p.m., Read with the Winchester Royals for children to 11 years.

• Wednesday: 2 p.m., STEAMWorks for ages 6-11, registration required; 4 p.m., Game with a Sheriff for all ages.

• June 7: 2 p.m., Crafternoons for ages 6-11, registration required.

• June 8: 10:30 a.m., family story time; 11:30 a.m., Sensory Sensitive storytime geared for children in the autism spectrum and those with sensory integration challenges, registration required; 2 p.m., Paws for Reading with certified therapy dogs.

• Miriam Happ, a freshman digital art and media major at Saint Vincent College, was named to the dean's list for the spring term.

• Kirsten Hernandez, of Bluemont, was named to the dean's list at Lehigh University for the spring term.

• Cameron McNeil Jackson, of Winchester, was awarded a bachelor's degree in English and environmental studies May 19 from Wofford College.
