Strasburg resident Marlin Dixon has withdrawn his bid for mayor of Strasburg.
After announcing his plans to run at the end of October, he posted his decision not to run on his Facebook page.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances in my life I have decided to not pursue running for Mayor of Strasburg,” he wrote in a Facebook post. “Thank you all for your encouragement and support the last few months.”
The race for mayor has two remaining candidates: Don Le Vine and Ray Lough.
Mayor Richard Orndorff Jr., whose term ends on June 30, has not announced plans to run again. The election will be on May 5.
The deadline to file as a candidate is March 3, though the Office of Shenandoah County Voter Registration and Elections recommends filing earlier to leave time for potential problems with paperwork.
