France has knighted a Strasburg resident with its highest honor, the Order of the Legion of Honor of the French Republic.

Donald Keller is one of four people who received the medal at the French embassy in Washington, D.C., this week as part of its D-Day commemoration.

The 96-year-old World War II veteran will add the medal to his collection of two purple hearts and other medals earned  during the war in which he served as a radio operator for combat engineers in France.

We'd like to join the people of France in thanking Mr. Keller for his service to both nations.
