Shenandoah County residents gather in Woodstock to show support for the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment in Virginia. To become federal law, 38 states would have to ratify it, and if Virginia lawmakers approve it, the commonwealth would become the 38th state. County residents signed 1,452 postcards supporting the amendment, and on Sunday all of the postcards were placed on pavement in the shape of Virginia. The cards were delivered to state Del. Todd Gilbert, R-Mount Jackson, in Richmond on Wednesday, which was opening day for the General Assembly.
