A Front Royal man is facing child pornography charges from the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office.

John Auustine Sims, 36, is facing one count of knowingly taking part or participating in the filming, photographing or other production of child pornography; one count of knowingly possessing child pornography; and three counts of knowingly and intentionally creating any video graphic or still image of a non-consenting person under the age of 18, according to a news alert from the Sheriff's Office.

On July 19, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to Sandy Hook Elementary School regarding a reported sex offense, the alert states.

Upon arrival, they seized a cell phone belonging to Sims that had been found in a boys bathroom.

Sims was employed at the time by an organization call, "Kidz Rec," the alert states.

The Sheriff's Office has reason to believe that Sims may have had contacts with other juveniles with the organization, the alert said. The investigation is ongoing.

Help is sought in the investigation by calling 540-459-6100. The case agent is School Resource Office and Investigator Colton Manich, or Investigator Jameson Cowgill.
