The Front Royal Police Department has arrested a Front Royal man on a charge of malicious wounding after he allegedly burned his girlfriend.

According to a criminal complaint, the police department arrested Thomas Munda, 27, of Front Royal, on a trespassing charge and an outstanding capias. When Officer B.D. Pennington, of the police department, went to speak with Munda’s girlfriend, she said that Munda had burned her with a lighter.

“She mentioned that he had burned her, and showed me an ‘L’ shaped burn mark on the right side of her chest,” the complaint reads. “She said that he held a hot Zippo lighter to her chest and said he had ‘branded’ her.”

The complaint adds that Munda’s girlfriend said that Munda also grabbed a knife.

Munda is being held without bail.
