The Front Royal man who supplied drugs to his friend who fatally overdosed in February 2020 was sentenced to a year in prison Thursday.

Brandon Lawson, 30, was sentenced to five years in prison with four years suspended after pleading guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

The charge was previously reduced from second-degree murder.

Lawson was also sentenced to five years in prison, all suspended, after pleading guilty to a charge of fentanyl distribution by accommodation, which was amended from the distribution of fentanyl.

Lawson was also sentenced to three years of supervised probation.

The charges stem from the 2020 fatal overdose of Gerald Blevins. Warren County Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Michael Fleming previously explained that Lawson told authorities he had bought the drugs that Blevins used the day he overdosed.

Lawson attempted to revive Blevins, who was like a brother to him, but he was unresponsive when medics arrived on scene. Lawson was cooperative and has accepted responsibility for providing the drugs to Blevins, Fleming had previously said.

Lawson’s attorney Eric Wiseley and Fleming did not return requests for comment on Friday.

I'm the victims older sister, justice wasn't done and the district attorneys officr and the victim witness advocate dropped the ball they never contacted us after our last meeting, we all had statements written about how this has impacted our side of the family and we find this mess out on the news knowing nothing no calls for upcoming court ect, now way for the judge to hear and see how this man is a menace to front royal and its residents, shame on the county and may this guy get what karma serves bc its better than meeting me face to face. A year is nothing compared to living the rest of my life without my baby brother.

1 year is all this pu$$y gets!! Man white privilege must be nice. Gets his distribution charges dropped and only gets 1 year for killing someone. If his @ss was black he would have gotten so much more. [censored][thumbdown][thumbdown]
