Singer-songwriter Judy Collins will perform at this year’s Shenandoah Valley Music Festival.
The Grammy-winning artist’s career has spanned five decades that has included several Top10 hits and gold and platinum-selling albums. Music festival President Dennis Lynch said the festival has been working on getting Collins to perform for several years.
“We’re glad to have her,” he said. “She has a gorgeous voice and an amazing career. “She’s an icon in the American music industry.”
Collins will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 31. Admission for the concert is $45 for lawn seating, $55 for regular pavilion seating, and $59 for preferred pavilion seating.
The festival will kick-off at 8 p.m. July 19 with a concert performed by The Drifters, The Platters, and Cornell Gunter’s Coasters. The Beach Boys will perform on July 26 and the Oak Ridge Boys on Aug. 9.
A Capella county music group Home Free will perform at the festival on Aug. 10.
Lynch said the group, which competed and won the singing competition “The Sing-Off” in 2013, is returning by popular demand.
“It’s not usually our policy to bring musical acts for back-to-back years,” Lynch said. “The crowd’s feedback was great, so we decided to make an exception.”
He said the crowd “felt a real connection” with the band.
“They’re great performers,” Lynch said.
Admission for the Home Free concert is $44 for lawn seating, $50 for regular pavilion seating, and $54 for preferred pavilion seating.

Lynch said that information on the the festival’s remaining event, the Hot Strings and Cool Breezes Minifest on Sept. 1, will be available soon.
