A Virginia woman faces additional drug charges after a Shenandoah County grand jury indicted her Wednesday.

The grand jury handed up indictments charging Virginia Stephanie Perry with one count each of distribution of heroin and conspiracy to distribute heroin. Perry, 49, of 39049 Church St., Greenbackville, Virginia, remains held at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail.

Perry stands charged with several drug-related offenses authorities say occurred in 2018. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Amanda Strecky told Judge William W. Sharp on Wednesday that she and the defendant’s lawyer, Kermit Racey III, had reached a plea agreement and had planned to present it to the court last month. However, authorities arrested Perry on the new drug charges two days before the scheduled hearing, Strecky said. The attorneys advised the judge that they still intend to move forward with the plea agreement that now will reflect the new charges in the indictment.

Perry is scheduled to appear in the circuit court on Sept. 4.
