Summer is heating up with the Jammin’ Foods Fest set from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday in New Market.

The inaugural event, which will be held at the New Market Community Park, will feature food trucks from around the area, live musical entertainment, shopping vendors and activities for the kids.

Amber Smoot, the events and marketing director for the Town of New Market, said the town is excited about the event.

“Food and music bring people together,” she said. “We have been adding some new events throughout the year to help engage the local and surrounding communities in fun activities, with added bonus of potential tourism.”

Jammin’ Foods Fest will be hosting seven food trucks, including Flavor Savor, Pigs with Wings, El Chilango, Tony’s Pizza, Mama Lucies Kitchen, Tickle Me Pink Food Boutique, and Lickety Split Ice Cream. Shopping vendors will include pottery, hand-made jewelry, Thirty-One, home-made soaps, and Perfectly Posh.

Who Shot John will kickoff the live entertainment at noon and will run until 2:30 p.m., followed by Standing Room Only from 3-6 p.m. Other activities include a pottery demonstration by Small Town Clay. Kid activities will include Golfzilla.

“Jammin’ Foods Fest will be filled with great food, great music, and the admission cost is free,” Smoot said. “We encourage folks to come spend the day with us and have fun with family, friends and neighbors.”

Smoot encourages participants to bring a chair or blankets for their comfort. She said there will be parking at the New Market Fire & Rescue building, as parking is limited in the park. There will be handicap parking in the park area.

Pets are permitted, but must be on a leash and not in the food truck vendor areas. Alcohol is not permitted at the event.
