What a great paper on Dec. 23!

The Henrico Baltimore cemetery story should inspire every one of us to ensure that the dark history it enfolds is never lost. Indeed, even destroying one stone or losing one name blows out a bit of light.

The doula-midwife-nurse training happening in the Navajo Nation and in First Nations in Alaska and Canada is a great step forward. The midwife experience during pregnancy, labor, and afterwards, absolutely can't be beat. My own experience with a doula when my son was born in Greece made me a convert. The care is more personal, and must surely be less costly than frequent visits to an OB-GYN.
