I felt I had to respond to the letter that you printed on Dec. 28 by Mark Rhinehart.
To complain that he was held up for a few minutes is so petty. I am almost 80 years old and when I heard the siren I ran outside to wave like crazy as they slowly drifted past. I am sure many others did too, especially the children. This does not belittle the fact of Jesus' birth. If some parents go over the top spending, please don't blame the firemen and their Father Christmas.
We are so lucky to live in a country where we can celebrate all religions, but Christmas is a special one for most of us here. Thumbs up to the firemen that do this for us. Happy New Year, Mr. Rhinehart.
