I was one of the first responders that caused Mr. Rhinehart an inconvenience the other week for the "Santa Event."

First let me say how sorry I am that you were inconvenienced over this. I am asking that you hear me out on this. So very often when first  responders are called it is because of an emergency or because of a need. That is the main reason why we are here to provide support and care during times of emergency. Each one of us loves being there for our community.

Our "Santa Event" is a part of us giving back to this amazing community that supports us and we love giving back to each one of you.

In our eyes, this event isn't just a waste of time and I believe our community truly looks forward to this every year. Seeing the faces of both the kids and the adults light up and the joy that come across them makes this all worth while to us. We are all volunteers and we do this because we want to, not because we are paid and wasting taxpayer's money. We get no money out of this event.

What we do get is a wonderful feeling of doing something to make people feel happy, especially at a time of the year that can be difficult for some. Once again, the time used is all volunteer, the candy is donated or we buy it out of our own pockets. The only cost is a bit of gas money.

So once again Mr. Rhinehart, I am so sorry for any trouble this has caused you, but I do invite you to stop by and ask us why we do what we do. It might just change your mind and help you to understand why we do what we do.
