Editor,

I am a retired Virginia State trooper, having served the Commonwealth of Virginia for 41 years. During the last 13 years of my service with the department, I was assigned to the Sex Offender Investigative Unit. On many occasions after having initiated a criminal investigation, I would meet with Warren County Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Bryan Layton to discuss the case. Mr. Layton is a candidate for commonwealth's attorney.

I have always had an exceptional professional working relationship with all offices of the commonwealth's attorneys during my career and consider it a privilege to have the support of Mr. Layton during each phase of my investigations prior to arrest or criminal indictment. Mr. Layton always displayed an unbiased and professional attitude and took time to review my individual cases prior to trial proceedings. Mr. Layton always took interest in learning the facts of my criminal cases and made recommendations to improve upon all aspects of the criminal investigation before proceeding through the court system.

The Warren County citizens can be proud of Mr. Layton's service and dedication to the community.
