I applaud Governor Northam’s apology for his past conduct and his courage to use this as an opportunity to improve race relations in Virginia now and in the future.
Rare is the politician who owns up to mistakes and vows to right his wrongs. Not only is this refreshing, but it shows the state, as well as the nation, a way forward and out of the terrible state race relations that are not only in Virginia but nationwide.
I urge all Virginians to get behind the governor’s efforts and work together in harmony and goodwill to solve a problem that has persisted for more than 400 years in Virginia.
