As a member of Staufferstadt Arts, I would like to clear up any confusion the community might have after reading the article concerning Strasburg Town Council's recent work session that appeared in your paper on Oct. 4.

The funds Staufferstadt Arts has received from the Town of Strasburg are part of the town's partnership with the Virginia Commission for the Arts (VCA) and the National Endowment for the Arts through the Creative Communities Partnership Grant. Any arts organization is eligible to request money from the town through this grant. This money is allocated in the town's annual budget as part of its mission to foster creative endeavors in our community. Staufferstadt Arts has applied for $1,500 of this money to install one mural in 2020. The nonprofit organization receives funding from both public grants and private donations to host artists from around the world to experience and contribute to Strasburg's arts culture. This is the last year Staufferstadt Arts is eligible to receive funds for its mural project through the Creative Communities Partnership Grant. Any future murals would be funded by other sources.
