One of the main selling points offered by the Board of Supervisors and the Chamber of Commerce to support the proposed new Meals Tax: "If you pass this new tax, maybe we won't need to raise your property taxes."

Do you recognize a threat when you hear one? I sure do and this one gets my goat.

If anybody believes the Board of Supervisors will limit property tax increases if the Meals Tax passes, I have a low-water bridge near Mauertown I can sell you real cheap!

Is the goal to intimidate Shenandoah County voters in order to satisfy the Board of Supervisors' need to overspend?

Voting down the Meals Tax on Nov. 5 will put Shenandoah County's elected officials on notice that we are already taxed enough.
