WINCHESTER — The Lord Fairfax Small Business Development Center is offering more free webinars and programs for local business leaders.
Starting today, the LFSBDC will roll out 17 webinars through Nov. 18.
Christine Kriz, director of the LFSBDC, said the webinars will cover a host of topics, including state and local contracting, building your business’ foundation, understanding budgets and taxes, how to start a small business and more.
“Staying hungry for new information can give you and your business an edge in an ever-changing market,” Kriz said. “The needs of your business and your customers change constantly. The rise of the internet and the social distancing changes due to COVID-19 has resulted in an increase in demand and supply of online courses and webinars.”
Those who are interested can take online courses via the LFSBDC host LFCC Workforce Solutions or join short webinars on topics for entrepreneurs at lfsbdc.org/events/. These free webinars are funded by the Small Business Association, Lord Fairfax Community College and the Economic Development Authorities of Clarke, Frederick and Shenandoah counties and the City of Winchester.
Today’s free webinar, which runs from 10:30 a.m. to noon, will cover how to secure state and local contracting using eVA, Virginia’s eProcurement Portal.
Courtney Mustin, the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity's business services manager, will teach attendees how to register in eVA and successfully use it to win government customers. It will feature a live demonstration and walkthrough of the eVA website and registration process.

What are the gaps in knowledge or skills that are holding my business back? What tasks could I cost-effectively do myself in my business instead of outsourcing, if I had the skills? What am I interested in or inspired to learn more about, that I could apply to improving my business?”
