Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Linden man on Nov. 20, charging him with abduction, strangulation and robbery.
According to court documents, Thomas Walter III, 48, of Linden, entered an ex-girlfriend’s house where he strangled her, took $65 from her purse and held her against her will for at least an hour.
Documents show that Walter had previously threatened to kill the woman, telling her he would “get away with it.”
After choking the woman, Walter tore her purse away from her, breaking the strap, and taking cash as well as her cell phone out, documents show. When she tried to leave the house, Walter pulled her back inside, and would not let her leave, prompting the abduction charge.
Walter was transferred from the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail to Winchester Regional Jail on Friday and will appear again in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court at 10 a.m. Jan. 7.
