The Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday charged a 38-year-old Mount Jackson man with aggravated sexual battery.
Investigators charged Derek Clay Savell with aggravated sexual battery after they were called to a home on a report of a sexual assault.
A girl, between 13 and 17 years old, said Savell had a conversation of a sexual nature with her and then touched her, according to a criminal complant filed in Shenandoah County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
When the girl asked what he was doing, Savell is alleged to have said he was "just cuddling" and then left, according to the complaint.
Savell is being held at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail without bond, according to jail records.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 12, according to court records.
