Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested an Edinburg man Wednesday who threatened his roommates with burning down the home in which they lived.

Lt. Bo Hall said they charged Joshua Unger, 22, with a felony charge of threatening to burn down a structure and with a misdemeanor charge of sexual battery.

Hall said the Sheriff's Office was called out to a home on the first block of Lamberts Villa in Edinburg regarding a threat.

“Unger threatened the people he was living with that he would burn the place down if they messed with his stuff before he moved everything out,” Hall said.

It is unknown what led to the threat being made or why Unger was moving out, Hall said.

While deputies were talking to witnesses, a woman reported that Unger on an earlier date had touched her inappropriately without her consent, Hall said.

Public court records show that Unger’s next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday in Shenandoah County General District Court.
