A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries when he jumped off the South Fork Bridge in Front Royal on Thursday morning, according to Front Royal police.

A news release from the police department states that police responded to North Shenandoah Avenue just after 10 a.m. Thursday in response to a call that someone had jumped off the bridge. The man walked out onto the bridge, stepped over the railing and off the edge, according to the release.

The man, who police identified as Patrick Cooper, a Front Royal resident, turned 30 last week. Officers found Cooper on the ground beneath the bridge, the release states.

Cooper was taken to Winchester Medical Center.
