A married couple whose last known address was Strasburg died in Frederick County on Wednesday in what police are calling an apparent murder-suicide.
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office reports in a news release that Richard Pelly, 54, and his wife Sheila Pelly, 51, died as a result of gunshot wounds.
At 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the release states: "... a female, appearing to have blood on her clothing and holding a gun, entered the Bo's Express at 3612 Valley Pike in Frederick County and advised the clerk that she had just shot her husband and she was now going to kill herself. The female then exited the store and entered a red Jeep, parked on the lot of the store, at which point the clerk called 9-1-1 to report the encounter."
The Sheriff's Office surrounded the Jeep and a black SUV parked beside it and tried to make contact with any occupants in the vehicles. The release notes that the Jeep "did appear to have damage consistent with a fired projectile exiting from the interior."
The county's SWAT team approached the vehicles and discovered the Pellys dead inside the Jeep.
Police found a handgun in the Jeep. Both vehicles, the release states, are registered to the Pellys.
The Virginia State Police and Winchester Police Department assisted at the scene.
