The Mount Jackson Police Department is seeking help in identifying a male suspect in an alleged armed robbery that took place early Friday.

The incident occurred between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. at the 7-Eleven at 5335 Main St., Sgt. Keith Cowart said by phone interview Monday.

The man is believed to be between about 5'10" and 6 feet tall, weighing around 180 pounds, Cowart said. A picture posted on the department's Facebook page shows an individual wearing a blue top and blue jeans during the incident.

Police have no indication of where the man might be or where he is from, but are actively investigating the incident, Cowart said. The department received a few tips on his whereabouts, but none that were relevant, Cowart said.

The man — who displayed a firearm Cowart declined to describe — got away with money and cigarettes.

No one in the store, which included a customer and clerks, were injured, Cowart said.

The man is also allegedly a suspect in a Rockingham County armed robbery that occurred prior to the Mount Jackson incident, Cowart said.

Anyone with information should contact Officer Johnson at 540-477-2242.
