Museum galas and intimate garden weddings are just a few of the many options that await brides and grooms at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley in Winchester.

Primarily, the MSV is an outdoor wedding venue, said Special Events Manager Catherine Bogaty. Outdoors, she said there’s room for 250 guests. At an indoor reception hall, the museum can accommodate 65.

“We always have to have a plan B here,” she said.

If you’re looking for a unique outdoor venue with history, art and a variety of options, then check out the MSV’s 7-acre Glen Burnie Gardens, providing equal parts whimsy and rustic sophistication to suit any style or season. Garden rooms give the wedding party privacy and offer a backdrop for stunning photos and lifelong memories.

“I think we’re the perfect venue for a smaller wedding,” Bogaty said.

Smaller parties don’t require the additional expense of the tent, she said, and with a group of about 50 guests, couples can pick any spot in the gardens.

Though the MSV doesn’t have an onsite caterer, she said it welcomes whichever caterer couples choose to work with.

The MSV also offers a private bridal suite in the carriage house, where the bride or groom can get ready, and private spaces for the wedding party to prepare for the ceremony, according to the museum website at themsv.org/visit/host-your-event/weddings-special-events.

Prices range from about $1,000 to $5,000, Bogaty said.
