Police have arrested a male nursing home resident who is accused of the aggravated sexual battery of a female nursing home resident on Nov. 20.

According to court documents, a housekeeper at Royal Haven Nursing Home told police that she saw Michael Coffman, 61, a resident at the home, assaulting another resident.

Documents say the housekeeper told police the victim has a mental disorder that prevented her from telling Coffman to stop.

The victim’s roommate told police that the victim tried to fight Coffman.

Coffman did not cooperate with the magistrate at his bail hearing, refusing to answer questions, court documents say.

Coffman is being held without bail at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail. He will appear in Warren County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court again at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
