Gavin Kandrick (Skyline ’17) is having a strong season for Roanoke College’s baseball team this year.
Kandrick is hitting .321 (27-for-84) with six doubles and 10 runs scored. The catcher is second on the team with 11 RBIs this season. He’s also drawn nine walks and leads the team with five stolen bases.
Kandrick went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored on Wednesday in a 9-7 victory over Ferrum College.
The sophomore has played in 21 games. He had a season-high three hits in a 3-1 victory over Emory & Henry on March 2. He had a double and an RBI in the victory.
Kandrick went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, a walk and a stolen base in an 8-7 loss to Methodist University on Feb. 8.
On March 30, Kandrick went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a stolen base in a 4-3 victory over Bridgewater College.
The Maroons are 12-12, including 8-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and play at Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday in a doubleheader.
SHENANDOAH STANDOUTS: Carrie Robinson (Skyline ’15) and Madison Clark (Sherando ’18) are putting together impressive seasons for Shenandoah University’s softball team this season.
Robinson, a senior pitcher, is hitting .317 (19-for-60) with two doubles, two triples, 19 runs scored and 14 RBIs. In the pitching circle, Robinson leads the team with a 4.13 Earned Run Average. She has pitched 81.1 innings and has a 7-6 record with 42 strikeouts.
Clark, a freshman second baseman, is batting .354 (17-for-48) with a homer, three doubles, 11 runs scored and 13 RBIs.
In the pitching circle, Robinson had a season-high six strikeouts in a 9-0 win over Brevard College on March 15. She allowed just two hits in six innings of work. On March 31, Robinson struck out four and allowed just five hits in seven innings in a 4-1 victory over Roanoke College.
At the plate, Robinson went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored in a 10-0 victory over Hood College on March 13. She went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in a 4-3 loss to Bridgewater College on March 26.
Clark had a season-high three hits and four RBIs with a double and a run scored in a 10-9 win over Rhode Island College on March 12.
She also went 1-for-1 with a run scored and two RBIs on March 24 in a 10-5 victory over Mary Washington University.
The Hornets are 14-13, including 5-5 in the ODAC, and host Randolph-Macon College for a doubleheader on Saturday.
