A Strasburg woman has been arrested on charged related to a May 18 home invasion while another person remains wanted by police, according to a Strasburg Police Department news release.
Delida Marie Chavez, 20, of Strasburg, was arrested Wednesday by the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office and charged with felony counts of breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony. Dijavuan Djuan Brown, 19, of Cullen, meanwhile, remains wanted on the same charges.
The release states that Strasburg police officers on May 18 responded to a reported breaking and entering in the 200 block of Horseshoe Lane.
Upon officers’ arrival, the release states that officers met two adult victims who said they were sitting in the living room with the front door ajar when Brown walked “onto the front porch, demanding money owed to him.”
Strasburg Police Capt. Jason Ford said over the phone that the victims disputed the fact that there was a debt.
The release states that Brown “demanded the victims to come outside and they agreed, but quickly closed and locked the front door.” The release states that Brown went to his vehicle “and came back and forcibly kicked the door open.”
At that point, the release states that the victims identified Chavez on the front porch.
Upon realizing that the victims were calling 911, the suspects fled the scene in a 2012 Silver Mazda 6, according to the release.
Online court records show that Chavez was released on bond and is due at 9 a.m. July 8 in Shenandoah County General District Court.
The release states that anyone with information on Brown’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Strasburg Police Department at 540-465-5230 or the Shenandoah County Emergency Operations Center at 540-459-6102.
