WINCHESTER – Cayenne, a 3-year-old domestic short hair, is up for adoption.
Makoto Shamoto, a kennel attendant at the SPCA Animal Shelter in Winchester, said that Cayenne was brought to the shelter in early January.
“[Cayenne] loves people, but she doesn’t like to be picked up,” Shamoto said, adding that the cat is also good around kids and is friendly around other cats.
“[Cayenne] seems to like other cats,” Shamoto said. “She sometimes gets picked on by the other cats, but she doesn’t seem to mind.”
Cayenne is blind in one eye from an injury she suffered before coming to the shelter, but Shamoto said that does not seem to bother the feline, noting that she does not act like a typical cat.
“She acts more like a dog,” Shamoto said. “When we open the door to her kennel, she just goes right in. The other cats don’t do that.”
Aside from her eye, Cayenne doesn’t have any other health issues. She is up to date on her shots and has been spayed.
The adoption fee for Cayenne is $95.
