WINCHESTER – Monarch, a 1-year-old domestic short hair, is up for adoption.
Kamryn Dixon, an animal caretaker at the Esther Boyd Animal Shelter, said that Monarch was brought into the shelter as an owner surrender at the beginning of June.
“[Monarch] wasn’t getting along with the other cats she was living with,” she said. “Since she’s been here, she’s been great around the other cats. I think the cats she lived with [were] older and [Monarch] loved to play. I don’t think they liked to play with her.”
Dixon said that Monarch is good around dogs, along with cats. She said that Monarch is friendly around people, but it’s recommended that Monarch have a home with older kids.
“She’s a playful cat, but she’s also very chilled and laid back,” Dixon said. “I don’t know why no one has adopted her yet.”
Dixon said that Monarch loves to play with toys and loves to eat. She said that Monarch is also an inside and outside cat, but she has become more accustomed to being an inside cat.
Dixon said that Monarch is up to date on her shots and has been spayed. Dixon said that Monarch doesn’t have any other health issues.
The adoption fee for Monarch is $40.
