WINCHESTER – Marley, an 8-year-old male hound mix, is available for adoption.
Judy Myers, an animal caretaker at the Esther Boyd Animal Shelter in Winchester, said that Marley came into the shelter in January.
“[Marley’s] foster owner had to surrender him because Marley is very protective of his owners around other dogs,” she said.
Myers said that Marley should be the only dog in any potential home.
“[Marley] isn’t good around other dogs,” she said. “He doesn’t want to share the attention.”
Myers said that Marley is having a difficult time in the shelter because of the noise from the other dogs staying there.
“[Marley] gets scared,” she said. “He’s looking for a quiet place to call home.”
Myers said that it takes a bit for Marley to warm up to people, and she doesn’t recommend families with small children. Marley knows simple commands like “sit,” is house trained, and he learned how to use a doggy door during his time with his foster owner.
“Marley would be a good companion for an older couple,” she said. “He’s looking for a retirement home where he can just cuddle up with his owner.”
Myers said that Marley is neutered and up to date on his shots. The adoption fee for Marley is $30.
“He really is a sweetheart,” she said. “Marley is very sweet and quiet.”
