Fancy, an 8-year-old domestic short hair, is available for adoption at the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter in Edinburg.

EDINBURG – Fancy, an 8-year-old domestic short hair, is available for adoption.

Katrina Keywood, an animal caretaker at the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter, said that Fancy has been at the shelter since January.

“[Fancy] was an owner surrender,” she said. “Her owner couldn’t care for her anymore.”

Keywood said Fancy is good around people. If any potential owners have kids, Keywood recommends older kids, as she is worried that younger kids wouldn’t give Fancy her space and may tug on her ears or tail.

Keywood said Fancy doesn’t mind other cats, but she doesn’t like being around dogs. Keywood also said that Fancy is talkative and lovable.

“She has so much personality,” Keywood said. “If I could adopt her, I would.”

Keywood said she thinks that the reason why Fancy is still at the shelter is due to her age.

“It can be a turnoff for some people,” she said.

Fancy doesn’t have any health issues that the shelter is aware of, is up to date on all of her shots and has been spayed.

The adoption fee for Fancy is $15.
