WINCHESTER – Tevia, a 4-year-old domestic short hair, is available for adoption.
Katlyn Himelright, a member of the adoption team at the SPCA of Winchester, Frederick, and Warren Counties, said that Tevia came into the shelter in mid-March.
“[Tevia] was part of a group of cats that a guy rescued,” Himelright said. “He had the cats spayed and neutered and cleaned up. Tevia was brought in with some other cats because the guy couldn’t keep all of the cats he rescued.”
Himelright said that Tevia is a little scared around new people, so he may hiss at people who come up to him for the first time.
“[Tevia’s] a little iffy around people at first,” she said. “If you slowly approach him, he’ll eventually become more friendly to you. We weren’t able to touch him when he first came here. “He’s come a long way in such a short time.”
Himelright said that she doesn’t recommend families with kids for Tevia but she said that Tevia is good around other cats. Himelright recommends someone with patience for Tevia.
“He just wants a chilled environment,” she said.
Tevia, who is neutered, has no health issues and has been microchipped.
