Front Royal police are asking the public for information about a vehicle that struck a boy in town Thursday night and left the scene.

Front Royal Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Woodside Avenue shortly after 6:15 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck, according to information provided by police Maj. Kevin Nicewarmer on Friday.

A 12-year-old boy tried to cross North Shenandoah Avenue in the 1300 block. The juvenile did not use the crosswalk and as he tried to cross the southbound lane an unidentified black, four-door vehicle struck the him, according to police information. The vehicle brushed against the boy’s right foot as he jumped back to avoid being hit.

The unidentified vehicle continued to travel south on North Shenandoah Avenue.

Warren County emergency workers responded to treat a minor injury to the the boy's right ankle. His parent declined further treatment for him.

Police have no further information on the vehicle or the driver. Police ask anyone in the area of the crash who witnessed the incident to contact the department at 540-635-2111.
