Central's volleyball team improved to 4-0 with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-22) home win on Wednesday over Skyline in non-district action.

The Falcons were led by Emily Funkhouser with six kills and three service aces and Peyton DiNardo with four kills and three aces. Ella Toothman had four kills, two aces and two blocks and Nevaeh Strother had four kills for Central. Chloe Helsley had four blocks and Viliane Luyando had 10 digs for the Falcons.

Central hosts East Rockingham on Monday.

Golf

Madison County tri-meet

Madison County won a home Bull Run District tri-meet over Mountain View and Central.

The Mountaineers finished with a team score of 165. Mountain View finished second with a 180 and Central was third with a 201.

The Generals were led by Emily Racer (39), Henry Bull (43), Andrew Wymer (46), Jason Dinges (52), Braxton Biller (53) and Nathan Poole (62).

Mountain View will be back in action on Sept. 20 in the Bull Run District tournament at Central's Bryce Resort. Central hosts Clarke County and Madison County on Sept. 16.

Cross country

Handley tri-meet

Central's girls finished second and the boys third in a tri-meet with Millbrook at Handley.

In the boys meet, Handley won with 17 points, followed by Millbrook (43) and Central (80).

The Falcons were led by Hayden Pence (13th, 20:59.9), Adam Richman (19th, 23:09.9), Logan George (21st, 23:19.5), Hunter Summitt (26th, 26:12.0), Elliot Artz (27th, 26:51.9), Sam Wilson (28th, 39:57.1).

In the girls meet, Handley won with 21 points, followed by Central (51) and Millbrook (62).

Central was led by Asia Hoover (fourth, 26:02.2), Eden Shelhamer (fifth, 26:09.4), Laniah Hoover (15th, 29:31.3), Kelsi Campbell (22nd, 34:23.1), Ava Pulizzi (24th, 34:35.2), Anna Mitchell (28th, 38:06.2), Kylie Ball (29th, 38:53.7).

Broadway meet

Strasburg didn't have enough runners to place as a team, but had a solid showing in a five-team meet at Broadway.

In the girls race, Turner Ashby won with 15 points, followed by Waynesboro (50).

Tha Rams were led by Claire Keefe (fourth, 24:03.34), Paige Hiserman (sixth, 25:49.25), Regan Robinson (seventh, 25:49.59), Mia Dodson (23rd, 40:41.66).

In the boys meet, Broadway won with 23 points, followed by Turner Ashby (51) and Waynesboro (59).

Strasburg's Anthony Atchariyakornchai (20th, 25:31.72) was the Rams' only boys runner.
