Stonewall Jackson fought tough with Page County on Tuesday but came up short in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-15) Bull Run District volleyball road loss.

The Generals led early in the first set, but the Panthers rallied for a 10-6 lead. Stonewall Jackson was able to cut the lead to 14-12 on a kill by sophomore Annika Dellinger. A few points later, another kill by Dellinger cut the deficit to 15-14, but that’s as close as the Generals would get.

The Panthers (5-6, 5-6 Bull Run) would win 9 of the last 12 points to take the set, including back-to-back kills by Maddie Gordon to finish it off.

The second set was close throughout. Back-to-back kills by senior Alexis Franklin and sophomore Lilly Blank cut the Page County lead to 15-13. A kill each by Blank and senior Kylene Franklin cut the lead to 17-16, but the Panthers took control of the set from there.

Page County won 8 of the final 12 points and finished it off with a kill by Caris Lucas.

The third set was tied at 11, before the Panthers began to pull away. A kill by Gordon helped the Panthers take a 14-11 advantage. The Generals were able to cut the lead to 15-13, but Page County won 10 of the final 12 points. Five kills by Lucas and an ace by Kaylee Good helped seal the victory.

Stonewall Jackson (3-8, 3-8 Bull Run) hosts Rappahannock County tonight in the regular-season finale.

Madison County 3, Strasburg 0

Madison County dominated from start to finish in a 25-8, 25-10, 25-11 Bull Run District volleyball win in Madison.

The Rams trailed 6-3 in the first set, before the Mountaineers closed the set with a 19-5 spurt.

Madison County (7-4, 7-4 Bull Run) held an 11-6 lead early in the second set and then used a 14-4 spurt to take a 2-0 set lead. Madison County’s Hannah Davis aided the final run with two aces.

In the third set, the Rams trailed 15-8, before the Mountaineers strung four straight points together for a 19-8 lead.

The Rams (1-10, 1-10 Bull Run) cut the lead to 19-10 on a kill by Madyson Judy. However two kills by Lizzie Burbridge and an ace by Davis helped give the Mountaineers the victory.

Strasburg hosts Page County tonight in the final game of the regular season.

Golf

Sherando dual match

Millbrook hosted Sherando at Blue Ridge Shadows Golf Course in Front Royal and topped the Warriors.

Millbrook shot a 169, while Sherando shot a 201. The Warriors were led by Elijah Ralls (48), Kadin Kasuboski (48), Landon Rohani (50) and Harrison Burrell (55).

Sherando plays again today against Millbrook and James Wood.
