Skyline sophomore Peyton Kaufman threw a no-hitter to help the Hawks top George Mason 10-0 in Class 3 Northwestern District softball action Wednesday in Front Royal. The game was called after six innings due to the mercy rule.

Kaufman struck out 10 and gave up two walks. Grace Benson led the Hawks at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Astoria Free was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and Madison Payne went 1-for-1 with two runs scored for Skyline.

The Hawks (2-0, 2-0 Class 3 Northwestern) host Central on Tuesday.

Warren County 10, Culpeper County 0

Warren County's Hailey Stiltner hit a grand slam to propel the Wildcats past the Blue Devils in a non-district road contest. The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Stiltner went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and six RBIs. Karleigh Crabill went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Haley Robinson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored for the Wildcats. Atori Lane went 1-for-2 with three runs scored and Jamie Kelly threw a two-hitter and struck out seven.

Warren County (2-0, 1-0 Class 3 Northwestern) plays at Brentsville on Tuesday.

Central 14, Manassas Park 0

The Falcons had seven different hitters with multiple hits in a Class 3 Northwestern District road rout of the Cougars. The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Central senior Alicia Ball went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI. She also threw a two-hitter and struck out 10. Kendra Boyce went 2-for-2 with four runs scored and two RBIs and Alexis Clark was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for the Falcons. Ella Toothman went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Trynda Mantz was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

Central (1-0, 1-0 Class 3 Northwestern) plays at Skyline on Tuesday.

Sherando 3, Millbrook 0

Sherando's Santanna Puller did a little bit of everything for the Warriors in a Class 4 Northwestern District road victory over rival Millbrook.

Puller threw a two-hitter and struck out 13. She also went 1-2 at the plate, one of Sherando's two hits in the contest. Abby Vadnais went 1-for-3 with a run scored and Isabel Hall and Makayla Campbell each scored a run for the Warriors.

Sherando (1-0, 1-0 Class 4 Northwestern) plays at Culpeper County on Tuesday.

Culpeper County 13, Warren County 3

The Wildcats struggled early and couldn't recover in a non-district road loss to the Blue Devils. The game was called after five innings due to the mercy rule.

Ryan Curl went 1-for-2 with an RBI and Aiden Borghi was 1-for-1 with a run scored and an RBI for the Wildcats. Wes Merchant went 1-for-3 with two runs scored for Warren County.

The Wildcats (0-2, 0-1 Class 3 Northwestern) play at Brentsville on Tuesday.

Girls soccer

Skyline 12, Manassas Park 0

The Hawks dominated the Cougars in a Class 3 Northwestern District home win. The game was called with 20 minutes left due to the mercy rule.

Morgan Lake had three goals to lead the Hawks. Annie O'Fallon, Teaghan Ewing and Katelyn Doyle each had two goals for Skyline. Doyle also had an assist. Skyline also had goals by Azy Flores, Audrey Dueweke and Kate Kramer.

Bridgette Hilleart had three assists for the Hawks. Skyline had one assist each from Flores, Morgan Berry, Dueweke, Laura Brown, Jhryssa Scheifla and Scarlett Flores.

Brown had one save. Skyline outshot Manassas Park 19-1.

The Hawks (1-0, 1-0 Class Northwestern) play at Central on Tuesday.

Millbrook 3, Sherando 1, OT

The Warriors suffered a season-opening loss to rival Millbrook in Class 4 Northwestern District action.

Sherando senior Kendall Lincoln scored the team's only goal. Millbrook's Lauren Rudolph had two goals, including the game-winner in overtime.

Sherando (0-1, 0-1 Class 4 Northwestern) hosts Culpeper County on Tuesday.

Boys tennis

Warren County 6, Central 3

The Wildcats swept the doubles matches to pull out a Class 3 Northwestern District road victory over the Falcons.

Warren County had singles wins from Michael Kelly (No. 1, 8-2), Austin Herring (No. 2, 8-4) and Matt Farley (No. 3, 9-7). Central had singles wins from Thomas Burgess (No. 4, 8-2), Ethan George (No. 5, 8-2) and Anthony Pulizzi (No. 6, 9-7).

In doubles, Warren County had wins from Kelly and Farley (No. 1, 8-6), Herring and Tonizzo (No. 2, 8-3) and Martin and Brett Jordan (No. 3, 8-3).

Warren County (2-1, 1-1 Class 3 Northwestern) hosts Brentsville on Monday. Central (1-3, 1-3 Class 3 Northwestern) hosts Strasburg today.

Girls tennis

Skyline 5, Brentsville 4

The Hawks won four of the six singles matches and held on for a Class 3 Northwestern District home win over the Tigers.

Skyline had singles wins by Brittany Arp (No. 2, 8-5), Morgan Botto (No. 3, 8-2), Brooke Swearingen (No. 4, 8-0) and Becky Geiser (No. 5, 9-8).

In doubles, Skyline's Botto and Swearingen won at No. 2 doubles, 8-6, to pull out the team win.

Skyline (2-1, 2-1 Class 3 Northwestern) hosts Central on May 5.

Sherando 5, Millbrook 4

The Warriors won two of the three doubles matches to slip past Millbrook in Class 4 Northwestern District action in Winchester.

The Warriors won three matches at the bottom of their singles lineup. They had wins from Morgan Sutphin (No. 4, 8-4), Kloe Thomas (No. 5, 8-2) and Emmy Woolever (No. 6, 8-4).

Sherando had doubles wins from Lea Blevins and Sutphin (No. 2, 8-3) and Thomas and Kendall Clark (No. 3, 8-2).

Sherando (4-0, 4-0 Class 4 Northwestern) hosts Culpeper County on Tuesday.

Central 6, Warren County 3

The Falcons swept the three doubles matches to pull out a Class 3 Northwestern District road win over the Wildcats.

Central had singles wins by Erika Hutton (No. 1, 8-0), Hannah Borden (No. 3, 8-4) and Grace May (No. 5, 8-0). Warren County had singles victories by Alyssa Furr (No. 2, 8-2), Maggie Plosch (No. 4, 8-1) and Molly Sims (No. 6, 8-5).

The Falcons had doubles wins from Hutton and Lydia Scibelli (No. 1, 8-5), Borden and Laurel Holsinger (No. 2, 9-7) and May and Maddie Lopes (No. 3, 8-3).

Central (2-2, 2-2 Class 3 Northwestern) hosts George Mason on Monday. Warren County (1-2, 0-2 Class 3 Northwestern) plays at Brentsville on Monday.

Track and field

Strasburg tri-meet

Skyline swept a track and field meet at Strasburg with Stonewall Jackson. The Skyline boys won with 84 points, followed by Stonewall Jackson (32) and Strasburg (14). Skyline's girls team nipped Strasburg, 57.5-56.5, and Stonewall Jackson was third with 21.

In the boys meet, Skyline was led by Logan Bailey, who won 110 hurdles (16.20), 300 hurdles (42.80), long jump (18-11) and triple jump (39-00). Other Skyline boys winners were Marcus Lambert (100, 12.0), Bronson Breen (400, 53.60), Donte Porter (high jump, 5-05) and Dathen Montoya (shot put, 35-01). Skyline also won the 400 relay (Bailey, Breen, William Smith, Porter, 46.40) and the 1,600 relay (Marcellis Diamond, Smith, Breen, Porter, 3:48.50).

Stonewall Jackson had wins from John Garber (200, 25.20) and Ashton Hilton (1,600, 5:30.70). Strasburg had a victory from Omari Holliday in the discus (95-10).

In the girls meet, Skyline was led by Emma Sokolowski, who had wins in the 100 (14.00), 200 (29.10) and the triple jump (26.00). Skyline also had wins from Ava Bordner (1,600, 5:54.70) and Kayla Haislop (shot put, 28-01). They also won the 3,200 relay (Bella Meadows, Sophie Jensen, Megan Arp, Bordner, 11:34.00).

Strasburg had wins from Claire Keefe (400, 1:02.40), Megan Martin (800, 2:33.30), Paige Hiserman (3,200, 14:04.30), Macy Smith (long jump, 14-08.00) and Joely Morgan (discus, 85-10). The Rams also won the 400 relay (Corina Funk, Aurora Rinehart, Maddy Doffermire, Macy Smith, 57.60) and 1,600 relay (Doffermire, Martin, Macy Smith, Keefe) 4:38.50.

Stonewall Jackson's Ashlyn Whitman won the 300 hurdles (1:07.00).
