The Shenandoah County Historical Society’s preservation awards recently were presented to, from left, Norman Scott, Tom Price, Margie Hisey Tackett with the Shenandoah County Library, and Janet Wagniere and Leigh Devier with the county Historical Society. Not present were Jenna French, with the county Tourism Office, and Karl Roulston. Price and Roulston, co-owners of the Box Office Brewery, were recognized for renovations to the former Strand Theater building in Strasburg. Scott was awarded for his book “Shenandoah Iron,” a history of the iron industry in Shenandoah, Clarke, Frederick, Page and Rockingham counties. The library and the Truban Archives, the Tourism Office and the Historical Society were recognized for a joint project – a 12-panel brochure titled “Farms, Factories and the Front Line: Shenandoah County’s Role in the World Wars.”
