Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane will host Fishing for Everyone from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Turner Pond. Volunteers will be on hand, all tackle and bait provided. Children under 16 can fish without a license, all other Game and Inland Fisheries regulations apply. The program is free, although parking is $10. Information: 540-592-3556 or


The annual Blue Ridge Mountain Mudurance 5K Mud Race will be held Sept. 28 at the Ralph H. Dean Recreation Park in Luray. It will be sponsored by Page Alliance for Community Action, a nonprofit coalition of agencies, parents, youth and concerned citizens.

The Town of New Market will host its annual Fairway 5K Walk/Run at 8 a.m. Oct. 19 at the town park. The event will help raise funds for new exercise equipment at the park.
