The following are some of the area recreational events that are being held:

5K

The Woodstock Fire Department will host a 5K as part of its summer bash event June 29. The 5K will start 8:30 a.m. at the fire house. Registration is $25 before Saturday or $30 after. Registration: 540-459-3242 or www.woodstockfire12.com.

Campout

Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane will participate in the Great American Campout from noon Saturday through noon Sunday. Camping will take place in the backyard of historic Mount Bleak. Rangers will be on hand to assist with campsites and tents. Space is limited. Advance site reservations required. Sites can accommodate up to six people and costs $30 plus taxes and fees. Dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday included. Reservations: 800-933-7275.

Baseball

The New Market Rebels baseball team will hold the following home games 7:30 p.m. at Rebel Park:

Wednesday: against Charlottesville, Mo Weber night celebrating his 96th birthday, free cake.

June 29: against Woodstock, classic car cruise-in, free admission for cruisers.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors 65 and older and $2 for ages 12 and under. Admission is free on your birthday or for those wearing a Little League uniform. Information: www.newmarketrebels.com.

Legacy Run

The Virginia In State Legacy Run will be held July 18-20 and is sponsored by the American Legion Department of Virginia as part of the National Legacy Scholarship Ride.

Money raised benefits college scholarships for the sons and daughters of service personnel nationwide either killed or over 50% disabled while on active duty since 9/11.

The route, which includes a stop in Winchester, will include numerous American Legion Posts across the state.
