The following recreation activities are scheduled:
Halloween Hustle 5K
The annual Halloween Hustle 5K and the Little Monster Mile will be held on Oct. 30 beginning at the Town Hall in Middletown. Costumes encouraged and four-legged friends welcome. Proceeds benefit NW Works.
The registration fee for the 5K is $35 and free for the Little Monster Mile.
Benefit golf outing
A golf outing to benefit Wounded Warriors will be held on Nov. 12 at Sly Fox Golf Course in Middletown.
The event will be played without official score cards. It’s anticipated that about two dozen wounded veterans will also participate. If you don’t play golf but want to contribute you can sponsor a participating warrior for a $100 donation. The green fee is $100.

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run of Shenandoah Valley will host a 5K event at 9 a.m. on Nov. 13 at Jim Barnett Park in Winchester to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that uses fun running games and dynamic discussions to teach life skills to girls in third to eighth grade. Participation in the 5K event is open to the public. Information, registration, volunteer opportunities: www.girlsontherunsv.org.
United Way Challenge
United Way Northern Shenandoah Valley will hold its 75th anniversary 75 Mile Challenge as a virtual event through Nov. 15.
Participants may bike, walk or run 75 miles to support the fundraising campaign. Starting Friday, athletes will commit to logging 7.5 miles or 75 miles either on their own or as part of a relay team.
This event is open to all ages and abilities. Miles can be completed in whichever way works best for each participant, on a stationary bike, treadmill, or out on the road.
