The River and Brews Festival will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday in downtown Front Royal.

The event, formerly known as the Brews and Blues Festival, will feature beers from Virginia breweries and live musical entertainment.

Front Royal-Warren County Chamber of Commerce President Niki Foster Cales said the event’s name was changed so that it would allow the event to highlight all of the outdoor recreation opportunities in Front Royal and Warren County.

“Our intentions are that folks will come to Front Royal and Warren County for the festival and extend their stays to include enjoying time on the river, hiking, fishing, or just taking in the beauty of the area,” she said.

Cales said the festival will feature nearly 60 beers from 29 breweries. Local breweries taking part in the festival include Front Royal Brewing Company, Backroom Brewery, and Broken Window Brewing Company.

Cales said there will be representatives from the breweries present so that festivalgoers can have discussions about the beers and the processes that go into making them.

“The festival provides an opportunity for folks who love beer to taste many in one place,” she said.

The live entertainment will begin with country singer Ryan Jewel at 12:30 p.m., followed by The Reflex starting at 3 p.m.

Cales said there will be many food vendors and crafters to visit, and that downtown Front Royal also has many restaurants and shops for festivalgoers to attend while they are at the event.

General admission for the River and Brews Festival is free. Admission for beer tasters will be $25 in advance or $30 at the gate. Beer tasters will receive a commemorative souvenir tasting glass, a wristband and 10 tickets for samplings or the purchase of full beers. Additional beer tickets will be available for purchase.
