A Strasburg man who is registered as a violent sex offender has been arrested and charged with being in the proximity of children and possession of marijuana.
On Aug. 6, Strasburg police confronted Christopher Miller, 52, at the Town Park during National Night Out. According to the criminal complaint, the officer confirmed with Virginia State Police and Shenandoah County Emergency Communications that Miller was a registered violent sex offender and was not supposed to be around children.
The complaint states that Miller was “walking nearby groups of children and people inside [the park].”
After the officer detained Miller and searched him, she found marijuana and a smoking device.
Miller will appear in court at 10 a.m. Sept. 12, according to the arrest warrant.
Miller is being held at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail without bond.
