Couples looking to marry amid nature have two area venues on Skyland Drive in Shenandoah National Park: a Skyland wedding or a Big Meadows Lodge wedding, said Helen Morton, director of sales and marketing for the park.
“It’s the setting, the location. You are in a pristine area and the views are scenic. Deer are grazing in the early morning or late evening,” Morton said.
Skyland offers an open-air amphitheater or a historic conference room with a backdrop of the valley, she said.
Big Meadows Lodge is located one mile from the large, grassy meadow at mile 51 on Skyline Drive
The lodge offers accommodations that range from main lodge rooms to detached small cabins, preferred and traditional rooms, suites, and pet-friendly rooms
There are 138 rooms for wedding guests to stay in at Skyland, Morton said.
“It is all self-contained,” she added.
Skyland weddings are available early-April through the end of November. Big Meadows Lodge weddings are available mid-May through early-November.
The park provides catering. They have an ABC license, Morton said.
Costs vary based on the needs of the couples, the menu and bar offerings. There are options to lower costs, such as booking off-season or on an off day.
