The schedule for the 2019 Shenandoah Valley Music Festival has started to come together.
This year’s festival will feature a who’s who of the music industry, including the Beach Boys and the Oak Ridge Boys.
“We always try to get diverse in our line-up,” said Dennis Lynch, who serves as the executive director and president of the festival. “I’ve been trying to get the Beach Boys for years and the stars finally lined up. The Oak Ridge Boys have always been crowd favorites when we’ve had them. I’m very excited for this year’s line-up.”
The festival will kick off at 8 p.m. July 19, with a trio of performances — the Drifters, the Platters and Cornell Gunter’s Coasters. At 8 p.m. July 20, the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra will take audiences on a tour of the galaxy with “One Giant Leap — The Planets and Beyond.”
The Beach Boys will perform at 8 p.m. July 26, while the festival will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock with “PSO Rocks! Still Stardust, Still Golden — Woodstock at 50” at 7 p.m. July 27. The Oak Ridge Boys will perform at 8 p.m. Aug. 9.
The festival’s schedule also has performances set for Aug. 10, Aug. 31, and Sept. 1. Lynch said that the SVMF will announce the performers for those dates in the next few weeks. All performances will take place at the SVMF’s venue at 221 Shrine Mont Circle in Orkney Springs.
