New Market moved to within a game of first place on Wednesday with a 4-0 road victory over Montezuma in Rockingham County Baseball League action.

The Shockers (14-6) scored a run in the third, two in the fifth and one more in the eighth and had 10 hits.

Reilly Owen (Shenandoah University) pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just three hits with 12 strikeouts.

Offensively, Matt House (Shenandoah University) went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI to lead the Shockers. Sherando graduate Pearce Bucher (Shenandoah University) was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Grant Thompson (Shenandoah University) went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI for New Market.

First-place Broadway was scheduled to play Bridgewater in the resumption of a suspended game Thursday, while New Market hosted Stuarts Draft. A Broadway loss and a New Market win would set-up a one-game playoff today for the regular season title and top seed for the upcoming playoffs.
