New Market used a six-run eighth inning to pull out a 13-7 victory over Elkton on Monday night in Rockingham County Baseball League action.

The Shockers (12-6) led 7-5 entering the top of the eighth and then scored six runs to take control of a tightly contested game.

Grant Thompson (Shenandoah University) went 2-for-4 with four RBIs, two runs scored and had a three-run homer in the top of the third to lead the Shockers. Henry Delavergne (Shenandoah University) was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored and Ethan Laird (Shenandoah University) went 2-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBIs for New Market.

Central graduate Luke Estep (Roanoke College) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI and Sherando graduate Pearce Bucher (Shenandoah University) went 2-for-6 with two runs scored for the Shockers.

New Market had 14 hits in the victory. Kirk Messick picked up the win on the mound.

The Shockers are two games behind first-place Broadway with two games left in the regular season. New Market concludes the regular season today with a road game against Montezuma.
